3. Tatūnga
Follow these steps to set up your VTech CS6124 Cordless Phone:
- Tāuta Pūhiko me te Whakatau: Open the battery compartment on the back of the handset. Connect the NiMH battery pack to the connector inside the compartment, ensuring correct polarity. Close the battery compartment. Place the handset in the base unit. For optimal performance, charge the battery for at least 16 hours before initial use.
- Honoa te Waeine turanga: Plug the small end of the power adapter into the power jack on the back of the base unit. Plug the large end of the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
- Honoa te Raina Waea: Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the telephone jack on the back of the base unit. Plug the other end into a telephone wall jack. If you have DSL internet service, you may need to use a DSL filter (not included) to prevent interference.
- Turanga: Position the base unit on a flat surface or mount it to a wall using the included wall mount bracket. Ensure it is away from other electronic devices that may cause interference.

4.1 Ngā Mahi Waea Taketake
- Te Waea: Perehi KORERO, ka waeahia te nama waea.
- Whakautu i te Karanga: Ka tangi ana te waea, pehi KORERO.
- Whakamutua te Waea: Perehi WATE whakahokia rānei te waea pūkoro ki te waeine turanga.
- Taumahi Kohiko: Perehi Kohiko during a call to answer a waiting call or to use other network features.
- Wahangu: Perehi wahangu during a call to temporarily silence your microphone. Press again to unmute.

The Flash function enables you to switch between calls if you have Call Waiting service, or to access other telephone company services.
4.2 Pūnaha Whakautu
The digital answering system records messages when you are away or unable to answer the phone.
- Whakakā/Weto: Perehi ANS ON/OFF i runga i te waeine turanga.
- Purei Karere: Perehi TAKARO/TATA on the base unit. The LED message counter will display the number of new messages.
- Te tuhi i tētahi pānuitanga: Follow the instructions in the full owner's manual to record your personalized outgoing message.
- Muku Karere: Perehi MUMU during message playback to delete the current message.

The base unit features intuitive controls for managing your answering system, including play/stop, repeat, skip, and delete functions, along with a clear LED message counter.
4.3 Caller ID/Call Waiting
If you subscribe to Caller ID service, the handset display will show the caller's name and number before you answer.
- Viewte Rārangi Tautuhi Kaiwaea: Perehi CID to scroll through the Caller ID log.
- Dialing from Caller ID Log: Select an entry from the log and press KORERO ki te waea i te nama.

4.4 Mana Rōrahi
Adjust the earpiece or speaker volume during a call using the VOL+ a VOL- buttons on the handset.

Easily adjust the listening volume during a call using the dedicated volume up and down buttons located on the side of the handset.
4.5 Rarangi Pukapuka Waea
Ka taea e te pukapuka waea te penapena ake ki te 30 ingoa me nga nama.
- Adding Entries: Whakamahia te MENU/KORERO button to navigate to the phonebook menu and add new contacts.
- Searching Entries: Scroll through the phonebook or use the keypad to search by name.
4.6 Handset Paging

- Paging the Handset: Perehi Kimi HANDSET on the base unit. The handset will ring.
