The DJI Spark is a compact mini-drone designed for capturing moments with ease and precision. 3. Setup and First Flight

3.1 Te Whakataki i nga Pahiko

Before your first flight, ensure all batteries (Intelligent Flight Battery and Remote Controller battery) are fully charged using the provided charger and charging hub. Connect the charger to a power outlet and then to the charging hub. Insert the Intelligent Flight Batteries into the hub. Connect the Micro USB cable to the remote controller and the charger to charge it.

3.2 Installing the DJI GO 4 App

Download and install the DJI GO 4 app on your mobile device (smartphone or tablet). This app is essential for controlling the drone, viewing live camera feed, and accessing intelligent flight modes.

5. Operating the DJI Spark

5.1 Take-off and Landing

The Spark can be launched from your hand using the FaceAware feature, which recognizes your face for quick take-off. Alternatively, use the one-button take-off/landing function via the remote controller or DJI GO 4 app. For landing, the drone will gradually descend and shut down once it detects the ground.

The DJI Spark offers several intelligent flight modes for enhanced creativity and ease of use:

  • QuickShot: Pre-programmed flight paths to create cinematic videos with a tap (e.g., Rocket, Dronie, Circle, Helix).

  • ActiveTrack: The drone can automatically recognize and track objects of different shapes and sizes, keeping them in the frame.

  • Aratau Hākinakina: Increases the drone's speed and responsiveness for a more dynamic flight experience.

5.3 Flight Safety Features

The Spark is equipped with advanced safety features:

  • Te Pūrongo Ārai: Front-facing vision sensors detect obstacles and help the drone avoid collisions.
  • GPS/GLONASS: Provides precise positioning and stable hovering, even when flying indoors or in areas with weak GPS signals.
  • Hoki-ki-te-Kāinga (RTH): If the battery level is low, connection is lost, or the RTH button is pressed, the drone will automatically return to its recorded home point.
