It functions as a security alarm, safety speaker, and can integrate with various Z-Wave compatible devices such as smoke and CO sensors. This device features a powerful 110dB speaker and a bright 1,000 lumens visual light alert strobe. It also includes a 4-hour backup battery to ensure continued operation during power outages.
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Aeotec Siren 6.

4. Tatūnga me te Tāuta
4.1 Tāutanga Tinana
- Kōwhiria he Tauwāhi: Select a central location within your home where the siren can be heard clearly and is within range of your Z-Wave gateway. The device is designed for wall mounting.
- Whakapiki i te Pereti: Use the provided screws and wall anchors to securely attach the mounting plate to the wall. Ensure the plate is level.
- Hono Hono: Plug the power adapter into the Siren 6 unit and then into a standard wall outlet. The device will power on.
- Attach Siren to Plate: Align the Siren 6 unit with the mounting plate and twist it clockwise to lock it into place.

4.2 Z-Wave Inclusion (Pairing)
To integrate the Siren 6 into your Z-Wave network, follow these steps:
- Activate Inclusion Mode on Gateway: Put your Z-Wave gateway/hub into inclusion (pairing) mode. Refer to your gateway's manual for specific instructions.
- Initiate Pairing on Siren 6: Press the Action Button on the back of the Siren 6 once. The LED indicator will flash rapidly to confirm it is attempting to pair.
- Whakaū: Once successfully paired, the LED on the Siren 6 will turn solid for a few seconds and then turn off. Your Z-Wave gateway should also confirm the successful addition of the device.
- Whakamātautau: After inclusion, test the siren's functionality through your Z-Wave controller to ensure it responds correctly.

Tuhipoka: The Siren 6 is compatible with certified Z-Wave gateways including Samsung SmartThings, HomeSeer, Open Z-Wave, and Zipabox. It is not compatible with Vera systems.
4.3 Z-Wave Exclusion (Unpairing)
To remove the Siren 6 from your Z-Wave network:
- Activate Exclusion Mode on Gateway: Put your Z-Wave gateway/hub into exclusion (unpairing) mode.
- Initiate Unpairing on Siren 6: Press the Action Button on the back of the Siren 6 once. The LED indicator will flash rapidly.
- Whakaū: The LED will turn solid and then off, and your Z-Wave gateway should confirm the device has been removed.
4.4 Tautuhi Tautuhi
If you need to reset the Siren 6 to its factory default settings, follow these steps:
- Press and hold the Action Button on the back of the Siren 6 for 20 seconds.
- The LED will flash rapidly, then turn solid, and finally turn off. Release the button.
- The Siren 6 is now reset to factory defaults and removed from any Z-Wave network.
Whakatupato: A factory reset will remove the Siren 6 from your Z-Wave network and restore all configuration settings to their default values.
5. Nga Tohutohu Whakahaere
5.1 Siren and Strobe Operation
The Siren 6 can be activated via your Z-Wave gateway to emit sound and light alerts. It features:
- Matohi oro: Pre-loaded with 6 security sounds, 8 safety sounds, and a total of 30 tones. Each tone's volume is adjustable between 80dB and 110dB through your Z-Wave controller's settings.
- Matohi Ataata: A 1,000 lumens strobe light provides a visual warning.
You can configure your Z-Wave scenes and automations to trigger specific sounds and light patterns based on events from other sensors (e.g., smoke detectors, door/window sensors, motion sensors).
5.2 Backup Battery Functionality
The Siren 6 includes a built-in Lithium Ion backup battery, providing up to 4 hours of operation in case of a power outage. This ensures your security system remains active even if the main power supply is interrupted.

5.3 Doorbell Function (with Aeotec Button)
The Siren 6 can also function as a doorbell when paired with an Aeotec Button (sold separately). Up to three Aeotec Buttons can be paired directly with the Siren 6 without requiring complex Z-Wave automation. Each button can trigger a different chime sound.
- Pairing Aeotec Button: Follow the instructions provided with your Aeotec Button to pair it with the Siren 6.
- Customizing Chimes: Use your Z-Wave gateway to assign specific chime sounds to each paired Aeotec Button.

5.4 Tamper Whakaoho
The Siren 6 is equipped with a vibration sensor that can detect if the device is being tampered with or removed from its mounting location. This can trigger a specific tamper alarm sound and alert your Z-Wave system.
6. Tiaki
6.1 Te horoi
To clean the Siren 6, gently wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or wet cloths, as these can damage the device.
6.2 Tiaki Pūhiko
The internal Lithium Ion backup battery is designed for long-term use. If the device is consistently powered, the battery will remain charged. In the event of a power outage, the battery provides temporary power. There is no user-replaceable battery compartment. If the battery performance significantly degrades over time, contact Aeotec support.
6.3 Whakahoutanga Firmware
The Aeotec Siren 6 supports Over-The-Air (OTA) firmware updates. Your Z-Wave gateway may automatically detect and prompt for available updates. For manual updates or more information, refer to the official Aeotec support resources:
7. Te Raru
7.1 Device Not Pairing with Z-Wave Gateway
- Ensure your Z-Wave gateway is in inclusion mode.
- Make sure the Siren 6 is powered on.
- Try performing a factory reset on the Siren 6 (see Section 4.4) before attempting to pair again.
- Move the Siren 6 closer to your Z-Wave gateway during the pairing process.
- Verify your gateway is compatible with Z-Wave Plus S2 devices.
7.2 Siren 6 is Unresponsive or "Locked Up"
If the device becomes unresponsive to commands from your Z-Wave controller:
- Hurihanga Hiko: Disconnect the power adapter from the wall outlet and from the Siren 6. Wait for approximately 30 seconds, then reconnect the power. This will force a restart.
- Battery Depletion (if power cycle fails): If the device remains unresponsive after a power cycle, it might be in a state where the internal battery needs to fully deplete before it can reset. This can take several hours.
- Tautuhi wheketere: As a last resort, perform a factory reset (see Section 4.4).
7.3 Siren Volume is Too Low or Not Changing
- Check the volume settings within your Z-Wave gateway's device configuration for the Siren 6. Ensure it is set to the desired level (80dB to 110dB).
- Some Z-Wave controllers may have specific parameters for volume control. Consult your gateway's documentation.
7.4 Accidental Tamper Whakaoho
