- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of each cordless handset.

2. Base Unit and Charger Connection
- Plug the large end of the base unit power adapter into an electrical outlet not controlled by a wall switch.
- Plug the small end of the base unit power adapter into the power jack on the back of the base unit.
- For each accessory charger, plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet and the other end into the power jack on the back of the charger.
- Connect the telephone line cord to the TEL LINE jack on the back of the base unit.
- Connect the other end of the telephone line cord to a telephone wall jack. If you have two lines, connect the second line cord to the LINE 2 jack.

3. Tatūnga Tuatahi
After the handsets are charged, you will be prompted to set the date and time, and select the display language.
- Follow the on-screen prompts on the handset display to configure these settings.
- The system supports Trilingual Prompts: English, Spanish, and French.

The system displays the caller's name and number if you subscribe to Caller ID service. If you subscribe to Call Waiting, you will hear a tone when another call comes in while you are on the phone. Press Kohiko ki te huri i waenga waea.

The integrated digital answering system records up to 22 minutes of messages, announcements, and memos. Each line has a dedicated mailbox.

- Uru Mamao: You can retrieve messages from an outside line by calling your phone number and entering your remote access code.

- Call Intercept: Pick up a call while the answering system is recording a message.
Kaihono Kaihokohoko Poraka
The Smart Call Blocker feature helps to filter out unwanted robocalls and telemarketers. Calls from numbers on your block list will not ring through. You can also set it to screen unknown callers.

- Waeawhiti: Initiate an intercom call between two handsets or between a handset and the base unit.
- Waea Huihuinga: Conduct a 3-way conference call between an outside line and up to two cordless handsets. You can also conference an outside call between two lines.

The VTech DS6251 system is expandable up to 12 handsets (DS6250 accessory handsets sold separately).
- To register a new handset, place it in the base unit's charger and follow the on-screen instructions.

- Try connecting a different phone to the wall jack to verify the line is active.
Handset Not Charging
- Make sure the handset is correctly seated in the base unit or charger.
- Verify that the power adapter for the base unit/charger is plugged into a working electrical outlet.
- Clean the charging contacts on the handset and charger with a dry cloth.
