5. Tatūnga & Tāuta

Follow these steps to properly install the TF-100 Electric Thumb Throttle with Display on your KUGOO M4 electric scooter.

  1. Whakaritea te Kuta: Ensure your electric scooter is powered off and the battery is disconnected for safety.
  2. Remove Old Unit (if applicable): If replacing an existing throttle/display, carefully disconnect its wiring and remove it from the handlebar.
  3. Mount the TF-100: Position the TF-100 unit on your scooter's handlebar in a comfortable and accessible location. Use the provided mounting bracket and screws to secure it firmly. Do not overtighten.
  4. Tūhono Waea: Locate the corresponding 6-pin connector on your KUGOO M4 electric scooter's controller wiring harness. Carefully align and connect the 6-pin connector from the TF-100 unit to the scooter's harness. Ensure a snug and secure connection.
  5. Tauira Haumaru: Route and secure the cable neatly along the handlebar and frame using cable ties or clips to prevent interference with steering or moving parts.
  6. Tūhono Pūhiko: Once all connections are secure, reconnect the scooter's battery.

6.1 Hiko / Whakaweto

  • To power on the display, press and hold the Pātene Hiko (usually marked with a power symbol) for a few seconds until the screen illuminates.

The TF-100 display supports various programmable settings (often referred to as P-settings) to customize your riding experience. These may include:

  • Taumata Whakamuri: Adjust display brightness (3 levels available).
  • Automatic Timer Sleep Mode: Sets the idle time before the display automatically turns off.
  • Tepe Tere: Configures the maximum speed of the scooter.
  • Whee Wheera: Essential for accurate speed and distance readings. Adjust this to match your scooter's wheel size.
  • Magnet Pole Count: Used for speed sensor calibration. Adjust this according to your motor's specifications for accurate speed readings.

Note: Specific P-setting codes and their functions may vary. Refer to your scooter's main controller manual or online resources for detailed instructions on adjusting these parameters for your specific KUGOO M4 model. Incorrect settings can affect performance and safety.

6.4 Thumb Throttle Operation

The thumb throttle controls the acceleration of your electric scooter. Gently press down on the lever with your thumb to increase speed. Release the lever to decelerate. Always operate the throttle smoothly and with caution.
