Huihuinga

  1. Attach the lower stem to the search coil using the provided bolt and washers. Ensure a snug fit.
  2. Insert the lower stem into the upper stem. Adjust the length to a comfortable operating position and secure with the locking collar.
  3. Slide the control housing onto the upper stem.
  4. Attach the armrest to the upper stem.
  5. Wrap the search coil cable securely around the stem, leaving enough slack for coil movement, and plug the connector into the control housing.

Tāuta Pūhiko

The Teknetics T2 Classic requires 4 AA batteries.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the control housing.
  2. Whakatuwheratia te uhi o te wahanga pākahiko.
  3. Whakauruhia nga pākahiko AA e 4, me te titiro ki te polarity tika (+/-) e tohuhia ana i roto i te waahanga.
  4. Katia kia mau te uhi o te wahanga pākahiko.

Nga Tohutohu Whakahaere

Te Hia/Weto

To power on the detector, press and hold the power button located on the control housing. To power off, press and hold the power button again until the unit shuts down.

Mahi Taketake

Once powered on, the detector will perform a self-test. The LCD screen will display various parameters.

  • Tairongo: Adjust sensitivity to optimize depth and minimize false signals. Higher sensitivity increases depth but can also increase noise.
  • Rōrahi: Control the audio output level.
  • Paepae: Set the background hum level in All Metal mode.

Whakaaturanga LCDview

The large LCD screen provides critical information during operation:

  • TT ūnga: A numerical value (0-99) indicating the probable identity of the detected target.
  • Tohu Hōhonu: Ka whakatau tata i te hohonutanga o te ūnga.
  • Mineralization Bar Graph: Displays the level of ground mineralization.
  • Pūnaha Tahua: Allows access to various settings and modes.

Using Discrimination

The T2 Classic features dual-filter discrimination modes to help filter out unwanted metallic objects (trash) while searching for desirable targets.

  1. Access the discrimination settings via the menu.
  2. Adjust the discrimination level to reject specific types of metals. Lower settings will accept more targets, including iron, while higher settings will reject more ferrous and some non-ferrous items.
  3. Experiment with different discrimination levels in your search area to find the optimal balance between target detection and trash rejection.

Ground Cancellation

Fast Grab™ Ground Cancellation

The trigger-actuated Fast Grab™ feature allows for quick and automatic ground balancing. This is essential for stable operation and accurate target identification, especially in mineralized ground.

  1. Hold the search coil parallel to the ground and pump it up and down from 6 inches to 1 inch above the ground.
  2. While pumping, press and hold the trigger. The detector will automatically adjust to the ground conditions.
  3. Release the trigger once the ground balance is stable.

Manual Ground Cancellation

For more precise ground balancing, the T2 Classic offers a manual ground cancellation option. This allows for fine-tuning the ground balance to specific soil conditions.

  1. Enter the manual ground cancellation menu.
  2. Adjust the ground balance setting incrementally while pumping the coil over the ground until the audio response is smooth and consistent.

Tautuhinga Whainga

Interpreting Target ID

The Target ID number on the LCD screen provides a numerical indication of the detected metal's conductivity. Different metals will typically produce different ID ranges.

  • Low numbers (e.g., 0-20): Often indicate iron or small ferrous objects.
  • Mid numbers (e.g., 20-60): Can indicate foil, nickel, pull tabs, or small gold items.
  • High numbers (e.g., 60-99): Typically indicate copper, silver, or larger brass objects.

Magnetic Mineralization Bar Graph

This graph provides a visual representation of the ground's magnetic mineralization. Understanding this can help in distinguishing between ground signals and actual targets, especially in highly mineralized areas.

Rokiroki

Store the detector in a dry, cool place. Remove batteries if the detector will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

Search Coil Care

The search coil is waterproof, but the control housing is not. Avoid submerging the control housing. Protect the search coil from impacts.

  • Tirohia te tāutanga o te pākahiko, kia mōhio ai kei te hou tonu ngā pākahiko.
  • Verify battery compartment cover is securely closed.

Erratic Signals or False Alarms

  • Re-perform ground cancellation.
  • Whakaititia te tautuhinga tairongo.
  • Check for nearby electromagnetic interference (power lines, other electronics).
  • Ensure search coil cable is wrapped tightly around the stem.

Poor Depth Detection

  • Increase sensitivity, if ground conditions allow.
  • Ensure proper ground balance.
  • Tirohia te taumata pākahiko.
