- Tāpare: The main structure, typically chrome-plated steel.

3. Tatūnga me te Runanga
3.1 Te Whakatuwhera i te Tūru Wīra
- Whakatakotoria te tūru wīra kua whakapikoa ki runga i tētahi mata papatahi, pumau.
- Grasp the top of the handgrips and gently pull them apart.
- Push down on the seat rails until the seat is fully open and flat. Ensure the cross braces are fully extended.
3.2 Attaching Footrests/Legrests
- Align the footrest attachment pins with the receptacles on the front of the wheelchair frame.
- Swing the footrest outward slightly, insert the pins, and then swing the footrest inward until it locks into place.
- Adjust the height of the footplates so the user's feet are comfortably supported and knees are at approximately a 90-degree angle. Use the adjustment lever or pin to secure the desired height.
3.3 Adjusting Hemi Seat Height (Dual Axle Design)
The dual axle design allows for easy conversion to hemi seat height. This adjustment lowers the seat for users who propel with their feet.
- Remove the rear wheels by depressing the quick-release button on the axle and pulling the wheel off.
- Relocate the axle to the lower set of holes on the frame.
- Reattach the rear wheels, ensuring they are securely locked.
- Adjust the front casters if necessary to maintain proper ground clearance and stability.
4. Te Whakahaere i te Tuara Wira
4.1 Engaging and Disengaging Wheel Locks
- To engage: Push the wheel lock levers forward until they click into place, securing the rear wheels.
- To disengage: Pull the wheel lock levers backward to release the rear wheels.
- Always engage both wheel locks when transferring or when the wheelchair is stationary.
4.2 Self-Propulsion
To move the wheelchair, grasp the handrims on the rear wheels and push forward or backward. Use both hands for smooth, controlled movement.
4.3 Assisted Propulsion
When assisting a user, push the wheelchair by the handgrips located on the back of the chair. Be mindful of obstacles and uneven terrain.
4.4 Kopaki mo te Rokiroki/Kawe
- Ensure footrests are removed or swung out of the way.
- Grasp the center of the seat upholstery (front and back) and pull upwards. The wheelchair will begin to fold inward.
- Continue pulling until the wheelchair is fully folded.
5. Tiaki me te Tiaki
5.1 Te horoi

- Clean upholstery with a mild detergent and water. Allow to air dry completely.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or materials.

- Tire: Check for wear, cracks, or punctures. Ensure proper inflation if pneumatic.
- Maukati wira: Verify they engage securely and hold the wheels firmly. Adjust if necessary.

- Tāpare: Look for any signs of cracks, bends, or corrosion.
- Whakapaipai: Check for tears or excessive wear.
5.3 Whakahinuhinu
Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to moving parts such as axle pins, caster stems, and folding mechanisms periodically to ensure smooth operation.
