The Exergen ComfortScanner TAT-2000C requires one 9-Volt battery for operation. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use high-quality 9-Volt batteries.

- Press and hold the scan button located on the front of the thermometer.
- While holding the button, lightly scan the probe across the center of the forehead, moving towards the hairline near the ear. Ensure continuous contact with the skin.
- A red LED light will flash and a soft beep will indicate a correct scan. The device takes 1,000 readings per second, selecting the most accurate.
- Release the scan button. The most accurate temperature reading will be displayed on the LCD screen.
- If the person is perspiring, lift the probe from the forehead and touch it on the neck behind the ear lobe.
Changing Temperature Scale (Fahrenheit/Celsius)
The thermometer allows you to switch between Fahrenheit (°F) and Celsius (°C) scales:
- With the thermometer off, press and hold the scan button for approximately 5 seconds until "F-C" appears on the display.
- Release the button. The current temperature scale will be displayed.
- To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, briefly press the scan button.
- Once your desired scale is displayed, wait a few seconds for the device to automatically save the setting and turn off.
Accessing Temperature Memory
The device automatically retains the last 8 temperature readings for instant recall:
- With the thermometer off, briefly press the scan button once.
- The last recorded temperature will be displayed.
- Press the scan button repeatedly to cycle through the previous 8 readings.
- The display will show "M" followed by a number (e.g., "1M", "2M") indicating the memory slot.
Quiet Mode (Programmable Beeper)
The programmable beeper can be turned off to avoid waking a sleeping child or adult:
- With the thermometer off, press and hold the scan button for approximately 10 seconds until "Shh" (for quiet mode) or "Loud" appears on the display.

- Once your desired mode is displayed, wait a few seconds for the device to automatically save the setting and turn off.
