2. Tohutohu Tatūnga

2.1 Te horoi tuatahi

Before first use, clean the interior and exterior of your YETI Tundra 50 Cooler with mild soap and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the cooler's surfaces.

2.2 Pre-Chilling

For optimal ice retention, it is recommended to pre-chill your cooler. Place a bag of sacrificial ice or ice packs inside the cooler for several hours or overnight before loading your contents. This lowers the internal temperature of the cooler, reducing the amount of ice needed to cool down the air and walls once packed.

2.3 Ngā Whakaaro mō te Tūnga

Position the cooler in a shaded area whenever possible to minimize direct sun exposure. When transporting, ensure the cooler is secured to prevent movement and potential damage.

3. Nga Tohutohu Whakahaere

3.1 Te Uta i te Matao

For best performance, fill your Tundra 50 Cooler with as much ice as possible. A recommended ratio is 2:1 ice to contents by volume. Minimize empty air space by filling it with extra ice, towels, or crumpled newspaper if necessary. Pack items tightly to reduce air circulation.

3.2 Te Whakamau i te Taupoki

Close the lid firmly and engage the T-Rex Lid Latches. These heavy-duty rubber latches pull the lid down tightly, creating a secure seal that locks in the cold.

3.3 Whakaheke Wai

The Vortex Drain System allows for easy draining of melted ice. Simply unscrew the drain plug located at the bottom of the cooler to release water. Ensure the plug is securely tightened after draining to maintain the seal.

3.4 Te Kawe i te Matao

The Tundra 50 features two types of handles for convenient transport:

4. Tiaki

4.1 Te horoi

Regular cleaning helps maintain your cooler's performance and appearance. After each use, empty the cooler and clean the interior and exterior with a mixture of warm water and mild dish soap. For stubborn stains or odors, a solution of baking soda and water can be used. Rinse thoroughly and leave the lid ajar to air dry completely before storage.

4.2 Te Tiaki i te Gasket

Inspect the freezer-grade gasket around the lid periodically for any signs of wear or damage. Keep the gasket clean and free of debris to ensure a tight seal. A small amount of silicone lubricant can be applied to the gasket to maintain its flexibility and sealing properties.

4.3 Hinge and Latch Inspection

Check the NeverFail Hinge System and T-Rex Lid Latches for any signs of damage or wear. While designed for durability, proper care ensures their longevity. Replace any damaged components if necessary.

4.4 Rokiroki

Store your cooler in a cool, dry place with the lid slightly ajar to prevent moisture buildup and odors. Avoid storing heavy objects on top of the cooler for extended periods.
