Follow these steps to correctly install and wire your Monoprice RJ11 Toolless Keystone Jack:

  1. Whakaritea te Waea: Carefully strip approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) of the outer jacket from your 22-26AWG solid telephone or data wire. Ensure the individual insulated conductors remain intact.
  2. Open the Jack: Gently lift the clear plastic cover on the back of the keystone jack. This cover acts as the toolless punch-down mechanism. It may require a firm but careful lift.

  4. Correct Wiring Diagram:

Disregard any printed wiring diagrams on the jack's cover if they differ from the following. The correct wiring sequence for this keystone jack, from left to right, is:

    • Ma/Kakariki
    • Kahurangi
    • Mā/Kārangi
    • Kakariki

This sequence applies to the four central pins typically used for RJ11 connections. For older phone wiring (red/green, black/yellow), the red wire typically connects to the blue position, and the green wire to the white/blue position for a single line. For a second line, black connects to white/green and yellow to green.

  5. Kōkuhu Waea: Lay each unstripped, insulated conductor into its corresponding color-coded slot on the keystone jack. Ensure the wires are pushed all the way forward, past the tiny metal contacts, and are seated firmly in their channels. Trim any excess wire length if necessary, ensuring about 0.5 inches (1.25 cm) of insulated wire extends into the slot.

  7. Katia te Uhi: Once all wires are correctly positioned, firmly press down the clear plastic cover until it snaps shut. This action will push the wires into the IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) terminals, piercing the insulation and making the electrical connection. Verify that all wires are securely held and that the cover is fully closed.
  8. Install into Wall Plate/Panel: Insert the assembled keystone jack into a compatible keystone wall plate or patch panel opening. Ensure it clicks into place.
  9. Important Fitment Note: Due to the width of this RJ11 keystone jack, it may not be possible to install two of these specific RJ11 jacks side-by-side in a standard dual-gang wall plate. However, it can typically fit next to a narrower Cat5e/Cat6 keystone jack.

Nga Tohutohu Whakahaere

Once installed, the Monoprice RJ11 Toolless Keystone Jack functions as a standard RJ11 port. Simply plug your RJ11-compatible device (e.g., telephone, fax machine, modem) into the front port of the keystone jack. The connection is passive and requires no further configuration.

Te tiaki

The Monoprice RJ11 Toolless Keystone Jack requires minimal maintenance. Periodically inspect the connection points for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure the keystone jack remains securely seated in its wall plate or panel. Keep the port free from dust and debris to ensure optimal signal transmission.
