Follow these steps to perform an alcohol concentration test:
- Whakahiko: Press the ON button located on the front of the device, below the display.
- Whakawera: The device will begin a countdown. This is the warm-up phase for the sensor.
- Prepare to Blow: Once the countdown reaches zero, you will hear two beeps, and the display will show three lines followed by the word "START" flashing. This indicates the device is ready for a breath sample.
- Provide Breath Sample: Take a deep breath. Then, blow continuously and steadily into the mouthpiece for approximately 5 seconds. Moving lines may appear on the display during this process.
- Panui Hua: After a few seconds, the estimated Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) value will be displayed. The result will flash for a short period.
- Katia Aunoa: The device will automatically power off after displaying the result to conserve battery life.

6.1. Mouthpiece Care
- For hygiene, it is recommended to use a new mouthpiece for each test, especially when multiple users are involved.
- Mouthpieces can be cleaned and reused by soaking them in a disinfectant solution (e.g., Amuchina) for about 15 minutes, then rinsing thoroughly and air-drying.
6.2. Whakakapinga Pūhiko
When the "BAt" message appears on the display, the batteries are low and should be replaced immediately with new AAA 1.5V alkaline batteries to ensure accurate readings.

- After a maximum of 12 months from the first use.
- After approximately 500 measurements.
