1. Kupu Whakataki
This manual provides essential information for the proper assembly, operation, and maintenance of your E-flite Delta-V 180m 28mm EDF Unit (EFLDF180M). Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure safe and efficient performance. This unit is designed for use in compatible remote-controlled aircraft.
2. Hua Neke Atuview
The E-flite Delta-V 180m 28mm EDF Unit is a high-performance electric ducted fan accessory featuring an efficient design and quick assembly. It is constructed from injection-molded, high-strength plastic and utilizes a 28mm 5-blade rotor. This unit is specifically designed for use with a 10mm brushless motor, such as the BL180m Ducted Fan Brushless Motor, 11,750Kv (EFLM30180mDFA), to achieve optimal performance in small ducted fan airplanes like the E-flite UMX MiG 15.
Tuhipoka: This product includes the EDF housing and rotor only. A compatible brushless motor and Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) are required and sold separately.

4. Ihirangi mokete
I te whakatuwheratanga o to kete, me kitea e koe nga mea e whai ake nei:
- 1x E-flite Delta-V 180m 28mm EDF Unit Housing
- 1x 28mm 5-blade Rotor
5. Huihuinga me te Tatūnga
Follow these steps to assemble your EDF unit and prepare it for installation into your aircraft:
- Motuka Tāuta: Carefully insert your compatible 10mm brushless motor (e.g., EFLM30180mDFA) into the EDF unit housing. Ensure it is seated correctly and secured according to the motor's instructions.
- Rotor Attachment: Attach the 5-blade rotor to the motor shaft. Ensure the rotor is pushed firmly onto the shaft and secured, typically with a small screw or collet, to prevent it from detaching during operation. Verify that the rotor spins freely within the housing without rubbing.
- Aircraft Integration: Install the assembled EDF unit into your RC aircraft. Ensure the unit is securely mounted within the airframe, and that the intake and exhaust ducts are clear and unobstructed.
- Hononga Hiko: Connect the motor leads to your compatible Electronic Speed Controller (ESC). Pay close attention to the polarity and phase connections as specified by your motor and ESC manufacturers.
- ESC Whakariterite: Calibrate your ESC with your radio transmitter according to the ESC manufacturer's instructions.
6. Mahi
Operating your E-flite Delta-V 180m EDF unit requires careful attention to detail and adherence to safety guidelines:
- Takitaki i mua i te Rererangi: Before each flight, perform a thorough pre-flight check. Verify all connections are secure, the rotor spins freely, and there are no visible damages to the EDF unit or aircraft.
- Hinga-Whakaoho tuatahi: When first powering up, apply throttle gradually. Listen for any unusual noises or vibrations. If any are detected, immediately cut power and investigate the cause.
- Throttle Management: While the unit is designed for high performance, avoid prolonged full-throttle operation, especially during initial flights, until you are confident in the setup and balance of your aircraft. High RPMs can stress components if not properly installed or balanced.
- Nga Tikanga Taiao: Avoid operating in dusty or sandy environments, as debris can enter the EDF unit and cause damage to the rotor or motor.
7. Tiaki
Regular maintenance will help ensure the longevity and performance of your EDF unit:
- Tirotiro Ataata: After each flight, visually inspect the EDF unit, especially the rotor blades, for any signs of damage, cracks, or debris accumulation.
- Te horoi: Keep the fan intake and exhaust areas clean and free from obstructions. Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dust and small debris.
- Ahu Motika: Periodically check the motor bearings for smooth operation. If excessive noise or resistance is noted, the motor may require servicing or replacement.
- Whakaeke Haumarutanga: Ensure all mounting screws and fasteners holding the EDF unit in the aircraft remain tight.
8. Te Raru
Ko tenei waahanga e aro ana ki nga take noa ka pa ki a koe:
| Putanga | Take pea | Rongoā |
|---|---|---|
| Unit not spinning or low thrust | Loose motor connections, uncalibrated ESC, low battery, obstruction in fan. | Check motor-to-ESC connections. Recalibrate ESC. Ensure battery is fully charged. Remove any debris from the fan. |
| Te wiri nui rawa atu, te haruru rerekē rānei | Damaged or unbalanced rotor blades, loose motor mounting, worn motor bearings. | Inspect rotor blades for damage and replace if necessary. Ensure motor is securely mounted. Check motor bearings for smooth operation. |
| Te wera nui o te motuka | Incorrect motor/ESC pairing, insufficient cooling, prolonged high-throttle use. | Verify motor and ESC compatibility. Ensure adequate airflow for cooling within the aircraft. Reduce continuous high-throttle operation. |
