Follow these steps to install your new thermostat:
- Whakaweto Hiko: Before beginning, turn off the power to your heating and cooling system at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
- Tango Thermostat Tawhito: Ata tango i to whakamaarama tawhito mai i te pakitara.
- Tapanga Waea: As you disconnect each wire, use the provided labels (if any) or masking tape to clearly mark each wire with the letter corresponding to its terminal on the old thermostat (e.g., R, G, Y, W, C). This step is crucial for correct wiring.
- Maunga Papai Pereti: Position the new thermostat's wall plate on the wall. Use the included screws and anchors to secure it. Ensure it is level for aesthetic purposes.
- Tūhono Waea: Connect the labeled wires to the corresponding terminals on the new wall plate. Refer to the wiring diagram in your specific system's manual if needed. Ensure connections are tight.
- Whakauruhia nga Pataha: Insert two fresh AAA alkaline batteries into the battery compartment of the thermostat.

- Configure Blower Switch: On the back of the thermostat unit, locate the small switch labeled 'Gas' or 'Electric'. Set this switch according to your furnace type. 'Gas' is for gas or oil furnaces, 'Electric' is for electric furnaces or heat pumps.

- Fan Switch (Auto/On): Located at the bottom of the thermostat, select fan operation. 'Auto' runs the fan only when heating or cooling is active. 'On' runs the fan continuously.

Programming the 5-2 Day Schedule
This thermostat allows for one program for weekdays (Monday-Friday) and a separate program for weekends (Saturday-Sunday), each with four periods per day (Wake, Leave, Return, Sleep).
- Pehia te Tautuhi button repeatedly until 'Set Program' appears on the display. The weekday (Mon-Fri) 'Wake' period will be displayed.
- Wake Period: Whakamahia te Pere Runga/Raro to set the desired wake time, then press Tautuhi. Whakamahia te Pere Runga/Raro to set the desired temperature for the wake period, then press Tautuhi.
- Leave Period: Repeat the process for the 'Leave' time and temperature, then press Tautuhi.
- Wā Whakahoki: Repeat the process for the 'Return' time and temperature, then press Tautuhi.
- Sleep Period: Repeat the process for the 'Sleep' time and temperature, then press Tautuhi.
- The thermostat will now display the weekend (Sat-Sun) 'Wake' period. Repeat steps 2-5 for the weekend schedule.
- After setting the weekend 'Sleep' period, press Tautuhi to save all changes and exit programming, or press Rere to exit without saving the last changes.

The Hold function allows you to temporarily or permanently override the programmed schedule.
- Pupuri rangitahi: While in normal operation, use the Pere Runga/Raro to adjust the temperature. The new temperature will be held until the next programmed period begins. 'Temporary Hold' will be displayed.
- Pupuri Pumau: Pehia te Puritia button. 'Hold' will appear on the display. Use the Pere Runga/Raro to set the desired temperature. This temperature will be maintained indefinitely until you press the Rere button to resume the program.

The display backlight activates for approximately 8 seconds when any button is pressed, improving visibility in low-light conditions.

The thermostat requires two AAA alkaline batteries. When the battery icon appears on the display, replace the batteries immediately to ensure continuous operation. The thermostat retains its programming for a short period during battery replacement.
- Remove the thermostat from the wall plate by gently pulling it forward.
