The tension dials, located at the top of the machine and color-coded to match the threading paths, control the tightness of each thread. Adjust these dials according to the fabric type and desired stitch appearance. Generally, a balanced stitch will have threads meeting smoothly at the fabric edge.
4.3. Differential Feed
The differential feed mechanism allows you to adjust the feeding of fabric to prevent stretching or puckering. Use a higher differential feed setting for stretchy fabrics to prevent stretching, and a lower setting (or 1.0 for normal) for gathering or to prevent puckering on fine fabrics.
4.4. Stitch Length and Cutting Width
Adjust the stitch length using the dial on the right side of the machine. The cutting width can also be adjusted to ensure the fabric edge is trimmed precisely for a clean finish.
5. Tiaki
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Elna serger. Always unplug the machine before performing any maintenance.
