The Accu-Chek Nano meter requires product-specific batteries, which are typically included. Open the battery compartment on the back of the meter and insert the batteries according to the polarity indicators. Close the compartment securely.
2. Initial Meter Setup
Upon first use or after battery replacement, the meter may prompt you to set the date, time, and measurement units (mg/dL or mmol/L). Follow the on-screen instructions using the meter buttons to configure these settings. Refer to the meter's display for guidance.
3. Accu-Chek FastClix Lancing Device Setup
The Accu-Chek FastClix lancing device uses a drum with 6 preloaded lancets. This design eliminates the need to handle individual lancets.
- Insert Lancet Drum: Remove the cap from the lancing device. Insert a new lancet drum into the device. The drum will click into place.

Follow these steps for accurate blood glucose measurement:
- Prepare the Lancing Device: Ensure the FastClix lancing device is loaded with a lancet drum and the depth setting is appropriate. To prime the device, press the priming button until it clicks.
- Horoi ringa: Wash your hands thoroughly with warm, soapy water and dry them completely. This helps prevent contamination and improves blood flow.
- Kōkuhu Tāhei Whakamātautau: Remove an Accu-Chek SmartView test strip from its vial and immediately close the vial cap tightly. Insert the metallic end of the test strip into the meter. The meter will turn on automatically and display a flashing blood drop symbol.
- Tikina te toto Sample: Press the primed lancing device firmly against the side of your fingertip (or an approved alternate site if using non-fingertip testing). Press the release button to prick your skin. Gently squeeze your finger to form a small drop of blood.
- Apply Blood to Test Strip: Touch the tip of the test strip to the blood drop. The strip will draw the blood into the reaction area. Do not smear the blood.
- Panui Hua: The meter will count down and display your blood glucose result in approximately 5 seconds.
- Mark Results (Optional): The Accu-Chek Nano allows for pre- and post-meal markers. Use the meter's buttons to apply the appropriate marker to your result if desired.
- Dispose of Lancet and Strip: Eject the used test strip and advance the lancet drum in the FastClix device to the next fresh lancet. Dispose of used lancets and test strips safely in a sharps container or according to local regulations.

Ko te Accu-Chek Nano SmartView system offers an option for non-fingertip testing (e.g., palm, forearm). Consult your healthcare professional before using alternate sites, as results from these sites may differ from fingertip results, especially during periods of rapid glucose change.

Clean the meter regularly to ensure proper function. Wipe the exterior of the meter with a soft cloth dampened with a mild cleaning solution (e.g., 70% isopropyl alcohol). Do not immerse the meter in liquid or spray cleaners directly onto it.
