1. Tatūnga

2. Gently spread the tripod legs outwards until they are fully extended and stable.
3. Ensure the leg braces are securely locked into position to prevent accidental collapse.

1.2 Te Whakatikatika i te Teitei o te Tūru

1. Te Toronga o te Waewae: Wewetehia te clamps on each leg section. Extend the legs to the desired height (between 55 cm and 157 cm). Securely close the clamps to lock the legs in place.
2. Center Column Adjustment: Use the crank handle to precisely raise or lower the center column for fine height adjustments.

1.3 Mounting a Device

1. The tripod head features a 1/4-inch mounting screw.
2. Attach your laser or level securely to the mounting screw on the tripod head. Ensure it is tightened firmly to prevent movement.

2. Operating the Tripod

2.1 Leveling the Device

• The tripod head includes a circular vial (bubble level) for accurate leveling.
• Adjust the tripod legs and/or the center column until the bubble in the circular vial is centered, indicating a level surface for your laser or level.

2.2 Pan and Tilt Adjustments

• Use the pan handle to smoothly rotate the mounted device horizontally (panning).
• Loosen the tilt knob to adjust the vertical angle of the device (tilting). Tighten the knob to secure the desired angle.

3. Tiaki

• Te horoi: Wipe the tripod with a soft, damp cloth after each use to remove dust and debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Rokiroki: Store the tripod in a dry, clean environment. Collapse the legs and center column fully for compact storage.
• Tirotiro: Regularly inspect all clamps, screws, and moving parts for wear or damage. Ensure all components are functioning correctly before use.

4. Te Raru

4.1 Center Column Crank Not Adjusting Height

If the crank handle turns but the center column does not adjust, the internal gear may be stripped. This often occurs if the thumb screw (which locks the telescoping pole) is tightened before attempting to adjust the height with the crank. Always loosen the thumb screw before using the crank for height adjustment. If the gear is stripped, replacement parts may not be readily available, and manual adjustment of the pole might be necessary.
