1. Kupu Whakataki
The ADJ DB Display MKII is a rack-mountable decibel level display unit designed to provide a visual representation of audio signal levels within an amplifier rack or other audio setup. This device enhances the visual appeal of your audio system by displaying sound levels through a series of LED indicators that progress from green, through amber, to red, indicating increasing signal intensity. It is equipped with features for precise control and versatile connectivity, making it suitable for various professional audio environments.

2. Nga ahuatanga
- Hoahoa Rack-Mountable: Specifically engineered for installation in standard 19-inch ampwhatanga whakaahuru.
- Whakaaturanga LED Hihiko: Features a dual-channel (Left & Right) LED display that visually indicates decibel levels, transitioning from green (low), to amber (medium), to red (high).
- Tairongo Taea Whakaritea: Independent sensitivity adjustments for both left and right channels allow for precise calibration to match various audio sources and desired display responsiveness.
- E rua nga Aratau Whakaatu: Users can select between 'Dot' mode (single illuminated LED per level) and 'Bar' mode (cumulative illuminated LEDs up to the current level).
- Hononga maha: Equipped with both RCA and XLR line inputs and outputs for broad compatibility with professional audio equipment.
- Compact Power Supply: Operates with an included 5V DC, 500mA power supply.
3. Tatūnga
Follow these steps to properly set up your DB Display MKII unit:
- Whakapiki: Secure the DB Display MKII into a standard 19-inch equipment rack using appropriate rack screws. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
- Hononga Hiko: Connect the included 5V DC power supply to the 'DC INPUT' jack on the rear of the unit. Plug the power supply into a suitable electrical outlet.
- Hononga Whakauru Ororongo: Connect your audio source (e.g., DJ mixer, audio interface) to the 'LINE INPUTS' on the rear panel. You can use either the Left & Right RCA inputs or the Left & Right XLR inputs. Ensure connections are secure for both channels.
- Audio Output Connection (Optional): If you need to pass the audio signal through the DB Display MKII to another device (e.g., amplifier, recording device), connect the 'LINE OUTPUTS' (RCA or XLR) to the input of the next device in your audio chain.

4. Nga Tohutohu Whakahaere
Once the unit is set up, follow these instructions for operation:
- Whakahiko: Flip the 'POWER' switch on the front panel to the 'ON' position. The LED display should illuminate.
- Select Display Mode: Use the 'MODE' switch on the front panel to toggle between 'DOT' and 'BAR' display modes.
- Aratau Ira: A single LED illuminates at the current decibel level for each channel.
- Bar Mode: All LEDs up to the current decibel level illuminate for each channel, creating a bar graph effect.
- Whakaritea te Tairongo: Play audio through your system. Use the 'SENSITIVITY' adjustment knobs (typically small potentiometers accessible via a screwdriver) for the Left and Right channels to calibrate the display. Adjust them so that the LEDs accurately reflect your desired audio levels, with peaks reaching into the amber or occasional red zone without consistently staying in the red.
- Monitor Audio Levels: Observe the LED display to visually monitor your audio signal levels. Green indicates safe levels, amber suggests strong but acceptable levels, and red indicates peak levels that may lead to clipping or distortion if sustained.

5. Tiaki
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your DB Display MKII, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Te horoi: Regularly wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and debris. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, which can damage the finish or internal components.
- Whakahau: Ensure that the unit's ventilation openings are not obstructed, especially when rack-mounted. Proper airflow prevents overheating.
- Whakaha Uepu: Keep audio and power cables neatly organized and free from kinks or excessive tension to prevent damage.
- Rokiroki: If storing the unit for an extended period, disconnect it from power and audio sources, and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
6. Te Raru
If you encounter issues with your DB Display MKII, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Raruraru | Take pea | Rongoā |
|---|---|---|
| No LEDs illuminate | Unit not powered on; power supply issue; no audio input. | Check power switch and connection. Verify power supply is functional. Ensure audio source is playing and connected correctly. |
| LEDs are too dim or too bright | Sensitivity settings incorrect. | Adjust the 'SENSITIVITY' knobs on the front panel for each channel until the display is responsive and accurate. |
| Only one channel displays levels | Audio input cable for one channel is disconnected or faulty; sensitivity for one channel is too low. | Check audio input cables for the non-working channel. Increase sensitivity for that channel. Test with a different audio source. |
| Display is erratic or inconsistent | Poor audio signal quality; loose connections. | Ensure audio cables are securely connected. Check the audio source for stable output. |
