Setup: Programming Your Key Fob

The USARemote Key Fob requires programming to function with your vehicle. While some Toyota models support self-programming, others, particularly newer models (e.g., 2007+ Toyota Tundra), may require professional programming by a dealership or an automotive locksmith. This key fob includes electronics and a battery.

General Self-Programming Procedure (For Compatible Models)

This procedure is a common method for self-programming on certain Toyota models (e.g., 2005-2016 Tacoma, 2012 Tacoma). Steps may vary slightly by vehicle year and model. If this procedure does not work, professional programming is required.

  12. Remote Confirmation: The door locks will cycle once to confirm successful programming of the remote. If the door locks cycle twice, the remote was not accepted; repeat step 11.
  13. Additional Remotes: If you have additional remotes to program, repeat step 11 for each one.

  • Panic Button (Red HOLD Button): Press and hold this button for approximately 2-3 seconds to activate the vehicle's alarm system. Release the button to deactivate the alarm.

Maintenance: Battery Replacement

The key fob is powered by a small coin-cell battery. If the remote's range decreases or it stops responding, the battery may need replacement.

  1. Open the Fob Casing: Carefully pry open the key fob casing using a small flat-head screwdriver or a coin. There is usually a small notch on the side for this purpose.
  2. Tango Pūhiko Tawhito: Note the orientation of the old battery (positive (+) side up or down). Gently remove the old battery.
  3. Kōkuhu Pūhiko Hōu: Insert a new, compatible coin-cell battery (e.g., CR2032, verify type in your vehicle's manual or original fob) with the positive (+) side facing the same direction as the old battery.
  4. Close the Fob Casing: Carefully snap the two halves of the key fob casing back together until it is securely closed.
