4. Tatūnga

  1. Ensure the engine is off and the spark plug cap is disconnected.
  2. Remove the chain cover nuts and chain cover.
  3. Place the saw chain around the clutch drum and guide bar. Ensure the cutting edges face forward on the top of the guide bar.
  4. Mount the guide bar onto the studs, aligning the chain tensioner pin with the hole in the guide bar.

  6. Adjust chain tension using the tensioning screw. The chain should be snug against the guide bar but still able to be pulled freely by hand.
  7. Tighten the chain cover nuts securely.

  7. Once the engine fires, immediately push the whakakowaowaotia to the HALF CHOKE or RUN position.
  8. Toia te kapo timata again until the engine starts and runs smoothly.
  9. Briefly blip the keu matere to disengage the half-choke.

Warm Start (Engine is already warm from recent use):
