This manual provides essential instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your ZENEC Z-N956 2-DIN Multimedia Station. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper functionality and to prevent damage.
The Z-N956 is a feature-rich DAB+ Infotainer designed for vehicles with a 2-DIN installation slot. It features a 9-inch capacitive HD touchscreen display and supports various media and connectivity options, including Android Auto.
1. Tatūnga me te Tāuta
The ZENEC Z-N956 is designed for installation in vehicles equipped with a 2-DIN mounting slot. Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and safety.

1.1 Whakaritenga Whakauru
- The device requires a standard 2-DIN installation slot.
- The mounting slot must be at a 90-degree angle to the dashboard surface.
- Avoid areas with significant vertical or horizontal dashboard curvature around the mounting slot.
- If using a vehicle-specific 2-DIN mounting kit, ensure it is compatible with the Z-N956.
1.2 Hiko-Whakaahua Tuatahi
After successful installation, turn on your vehicle's ignition. The Z-N956 should power on automatically. Follow any on-screen prompts for initial setup.
1.3 Hononga
- Tauranga USB: The device features USB ports for connecting external storage devices and smartphones. These ports support various audio and video formats.
- DAB+ Antenna: An optional DAB+ antenna is required for receiving digital radio broadcasts. Connect it to the designated input on the rear of the unit.
- Navigation Package: Two optional navigation packages (Z-E-MAP56 for cars, Z-E-MAP56-MH for motorhomes) are available to upgrade the Z-N956 into a full-featured navigation system. These packages include digital map data for 47 European countries and 6.5 million premium Points of Interest (POIs). Map updates are free for 3 years.
2. Nga Tohutohu Whakahaere
The Z-N956 features a responsive 9-inch capacitive touchscreen display for intuitive control of all functions.

2.1 DAB+ Digital Radio
The integrated DAB+ Twin-Tuner provides access to a wide range of digital radio stations. Key features include:
- Dynamic Station List: Automatically updates available stations.
- MOT Image Show: Displays station logos or related images.
- DLS-Text: Shows dynamic label segment text (e.g., song title, artist).
- DAB+/FM Service Follow: Seamlessly switches between DAB+ and FM broadcasts for continuous listening.

2.2 Android Aunoa
The Z-N956 is Google Android Auto certified. Connect your Android smartphone via USB to access compatible apps and online services directly on the Z-N956's display. Control can be done via the touchscreen or Google Voice Assistant.

2.3 Whakahoki Media USB
Connect USB storage devices to play various audio and video files. The device supports the latest audio and video formats, including H.264 and H.265/HEVC for video encoding.

2.4 Ngā Mahi Ororongo
The Z-N956 includes advanced audio processing features:
- Tātari Hohe: Allows for precise sound tuning.
- Tātari Haere-Tiro: Filters out low frequencies from speakers.
- Tātari Tuku-iti: Filters out high frequencies, typically for subwoofers.
- Aratau Putanga Ororongo: Supports Stereo, Surround, and Mono configurations.
- Surround-Sound Channel Configuration: 5.0 channel support.
2.5 Camera Input (CAM)
The unit supports camera input, typically for rearview cameras, enhancing safety during parking and reversing maneuvers.

3. Tiaki
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Z-N956 Multimedia Station.
3.1 Te Whakapai i te Whakaaturanga
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the capacitive touchscreen.

- Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the screen surface.
