2.1 Whakakaha i te Pūrere

The DR-40X operates on three AAA batteries. Insert the batteries into the compartment located on the rear of the unit, ensuring correct polarity. The device can also be powered via a micro USB cable connected to a computer or a USB power adapter.

The DR-40X records to SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards (up to 128GB). Locate the SD card slot on the side of the unit. Insert the memory card until it clicks into place. To remove, push the card in slightly until it springs out.

To begin recording, ensure a memory card is inserted and the device is powered on. Adjust the input level using the + and - buttons to prevent clipping (distortion). Press the REKOTI button once to arm recording (standby mode), and press it again to start recording.

The DR-40X features adjustable stereo condenser microphones. They can be configured in two positions:

3.1.2 Connecting External Microphones

The unit is equipped with dual XLR/TRS combo jacks at the bottom. These inputs support both mic-level and +4dBu line-level signals. For condenser microphones requiring power, enable +48V phantom power through the menu settings.

3.1.3 4-Channel Recording Mode

The DR-40X can record up to four tracks simultaneously. This allows for recording the built-in microphones along with two external inputs, or two stereo pairs. Access the 4CH mode via the dedicated button on the front panel.

Select the DR-40X as your audio input/output device in your recording software or system settings.
