This manual provides instructions for the proper use and maintenance of your Sharp EL-W531TL Scientific Calculator. Designed for students and professionals, this calculator performs over 420 advanced scientific functions and features WriteView Technology for clear display of equations.
1. Tatūnga
1.1 Tāuta Pūhiko
The Sharp EL-W531TL calculator operates on one LR44 battery, which is included. To install or replace the battery:
- Me whakarite kua huri te tātaitai WATE.

- Use a small screwdriver to remove the screw securing the cover.
- Carefully remove the cover and insert the LR44 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.

1.2 Hiko Tuatahi

2.1 Ngā Mahi Pāngarau Taketake
Perform basic calculations using the number keys and operation keys (+, -, ×, ÷). Perehi = hei whakaatu i te hua.
- Tāpiritanga: 5 + 3 = (Hunga: 8)
- Tangohanga: 10 - 4 = (Hunga: 6)
- Whakarea: 7 × 2 = (Hunga: 14)
- Wehenga: 15 ÷ 3 = (Hunga: 5)
2.2 Ngā Mahi Pūtaiao
The EL-W531TL offers over 420 scientific functions. Many functions are accessed by pressing the Te Whare Tuarua key followed by the desired function key.
- Taumahinga Trigonometric: Whakamahi hara, cos, tan keys. For inverse functions, press Te Whare Tuarua then the respective key (e.g., Te Whare Tuarua hara for sin-1).
- Ngā Kōarotāma: Whakamahi rangitaki (turanga 10) me ln ngā kī (rōkaritīma tūturu).
- Ngā Mana me ngā Pūtake: Whakamahi x² mō te tapawhā, √ for square root. For other powers, use yx.
- Hautau: Whakamahia te ab/c key to enter and calculate fractions.
2.3 Nga Mahi Mahara
The calculator includes independent memory (M) and variable memories (A-F, X, Y).
- Penapena ki te Mahara: Enter a value, then press STO followed by the desired memory key (e.g., STO M+ to store to M).
- Whakamahara mai i te Mahara: Perehi RCL followed by the desired memory key.
- Maamaa Mahara: Perehi M-CLR to clear all memories.
2.4 Kōwhiringa Aratau
Pehia te MODE key to cycle through different calculation modes (e.g., Normal, Stat, Drill). Press CA to change angle units (DEG, RAD, GRAD).

3. Tiaki
3.1 Te horoi
To clean the calculator, wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or spray directly onto the calculator, as this may damage the display or keys.
3.2 Whakakapinga Pūhiko
When the display becomes dim or calculations are erratic, it is time to replace the battery. Refer to Section 1.1 for battery installation instructions. Always replace with a new LR44 alkaline battery.
3.3 Rokiroki
Store the calculator in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, it is recommended to remove the battery to prevent leakage.
