4. Console Overview
Familiarize yourself with the ports and features of your RetroN 2 HD console.

Āhuatanga matua:
- NES Cartridge Slot: Located on the front-left side.
- Super NES/Super Famicom Cartridge Slot: Located on the front-right side.
- Pātene Hiko: Turns the console on/off.
- Patene Tautuhi Anō: Resets the game.
- HD Output Port: For connecting to HDTVs via HDMI cable (720p output).
- AV Output Ports: For connecting to older TVs via RCA cables (yellow, white, red).
- Tauranga Hiko Micro-USB: Mo te hono i te taura hiko.
- NTSC/PAL Switch: Located on the bottom of the console, allows switching between NTSC and PAL region compatibility.
- Controller Ports: Two ports for NES controllers and two ports for Super NES/Super Famicom controllers.
5. Tohutohu Tatūnga
5.1 Connecting to an HDTV (HDMI)
- Connect one end of the provided HD cable to the HD Output Port on the back of the RetroN 2 HD console.
- Connect the other end of the HD cable to an available HDMI input on your HDTV.
- Connect the Micro Charge Cable to the Micro-USB Power Port on the console and the other end to the AC adapter. Plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet.
- Insert your desired NES or Super NES/Super Famicom cartridge into the appropriate slot on the console.
- Connect the "Cadet" or "Scout" controller to the corresponding controller port.
- Turn on your HDTV and select the correct HDMI input source.
- Press the Power button on the RetroN 2 HD console. The power indicator light will illuminate.
- Adjust the aspect ratio using the 4:3/16:9 switch on the console if desired (only applicable for HD output).
5.2 Connecting to an Older TV (AV)
- Connect the provided AV cable to the AV Output Ports (yellow for video, white for left audio, red for right audio) on the back of the RetroN 2 HD console.

- Turn on your TV and select the correct AV input source.

6.1 Inserting and Removing Cartridges
- Ensure the console is powered off before inserting or removing cartridges.
- Gently insert the game cartridge into the correct slot (NES or Super NES/Super Famicom) until it is fully seated. Do not force cartridges.
- To remove a cartridge, gently pull it straight up from the slot.
6.2 Powering On and Playing
- After connecting all cables and inserting a cartridge, press the Power button on the console.
- The game should appear on your screen. If not, ensure your TV is on the correct input and the cartridge is properly seated.
- Use the connected controller to play your game.
6.3 Using the NTSC/PAL Switch
The RetroN 2 HD is compatible with both NTSC and PAL region cartridges. The NTSC/PAL switch is located on the bottom of the console. Before inserting a cartridge, ensure the switch is set to the correct region for your game. Incorrect settings may prevent the game from loading or display it improperly.
6.4 Aspect Ratio Switch (HD Output Only)
When using the HD cable, you can switch between a 4:3 aspect ratio (original display for retro games) and a 16:9 aspect ratio (widescreen) using the dedicated switch on the console. This allows you to choose your preferred display mode.
