- Air Filter Check: Verify the air filter is clean and properly installed. The air filter is crucial for engine longevity.

4. Nga Tohutohu Whakahaere
Follow these steps to start and operate your Powerhorse engine.
- Takiwa wahie: Open the fuel valve (if equipped).
- Koowaowao: Move the choke lever to the 'CHOKE' position if starting a cold engine. For a warm engine, the choke may not be necessary.
- Whakawhiti Miihini: Move the engine ON/OFF switch to the 'ON' position.
- Tīmata: Pull the recoil starter handle firmly and smoothly until the engine starts. The recoil start features a compression release for easier starting.
- Te Whakatikatika i te Ārai: Kia tīmata te mīhini, nekehia mārire te rīwhi ārai ki te tūranga 'OMA' i te mea e mahana haere ana te mīhini.
- Puta: Whakaritea te kaitapa ki te tere miihini e hiahiatia ana.
To stop the engine, move the engine ON/OFF switch to the 'OFF' position and close the fuel valve.

5. Tiaki
Regular maintenance is essential for the longevity and optimal performance of your engine.
- Hinu Mihini: Check oil level before each use. Change engine oil after the first 5 hours of operation, then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first.
- Tātari hau: Clean the air filter every 50 hours of use, or more frequently in dusty conditions. Replace if damaged.

- Pūnaha hinu: Drain the fuel tank and carburetor if storing the engine for an extended period (over 30 days) to prevent fuel degradation.
