- Unpack the Toniebox: Carefully remove the Toniebox and its accessories from the packaging.
- Hononga Wi-Fi Tuatahi: Follow the instructions in the Mytonies app to connect your Toniebox to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. This step is crucial for downloading content to new Tonies.
- Charge the Toniebox: Place the Toniebox on the charging station. For optimal battery performance, especially if the Toniebox doesn't work off the charger initially, update to the latest firmware and leave it on the charger for at least 24 hours.

The Toniebox is designed for intuitive use by young children. Here’s how to operate it:
- Tīmata Whakahoki: Place any Tonie audio character on top of the Toniebox. Playback will begin automatically.
- Whakaritea Rōrahi: Pressing the larger ear on the Toniebox increases the volume, while pressing the smaller ear decreases it.
- Change Tracks: Tap the sides of the Toniebox to skip forward or backward through tracks.
- Tatari/Kati: Remove the Tonie character from the Toniebox to pause or stop playback.
- Whakamahi Puoro: For quiet listening, plug headphones into the headphone jack located on the side of the Toniebox.
