3. Tatūnga

Follow these steps to set up your Donner DEK-510 keyboard:

  1. Hononga Hiko: Connect the included power adapter to the DC 9V input jack on the rear panel of the keyboard and plug it into a standard wall outlet. Alternatively, for portable use, insert six (6) D-type 1.5V batteries into the battery compartment on the underside of the keyboard.
  2. Te Tāutanga o te Tūnga Waiata: Insert the music stand into the designated slot at the top rear of the keyboard.
  3. Hononga hopuoro: Plug the microphone into the 'MIC' input jack on the rear panel.
  4. Headphones/Sustain Pedal (Optional): If desired, connect headphones to the 'PHONES' jack or a sustain pedal to the 'PEDAL' jack on the rear panel.
  5. Whakahiko: Press the power button located on the left side of the control panel to turn on the keyboard.

4. Mana Whakahaere

The control panel of the DEK-510 keyboard features various buttons and a large LED screen for easy navigation and function selection.

  • Pātene Hiko: Turns the keyboard on or off.
  • Mana Rōrahi Matua: Adjusts the overall output volume of the keyboard.
  • ACMP Volume Control: Adjusts the volume of the accompaniment.
  • Voice Buttons: Selects from 500 different instrument tones.
  • Style Buttons: Selects from 300 different rhythm styles.
  • Papapātuhi Tau: Used to input specific voice or style numbers.
  • Mata Mata: Displays current settings, selected voice/style, and teaching mode information.
  • Record/Playback Buttons: Initiates recording and plays back recorded performances.
  • Mana MP3: Manages MP3 playback from a USB drive.

5. Nga Mahi Matua

5.1 Voice and Style Selection

The DEK-510 offers 500 tones (voices) and 300 rhythms (styles) to enhance your playing. Refer to the labels on the keyboard's panel for corresponding numeric codes.

  • Press the 'VOICE' button, then use the numeric keypad to enter the desired voice code.
  • Press the 'STYLE' button, then use the numeric keypad to enter the desired rhythm style code.

5.2 Te Rekoata me te Purei

The keyboard allows you to record your performances and play them back.

  1. To start recording, press the 'RECORD' button. The LED screen will indicate that recording is active.

  • Download the Donner Music App from your device's app store for exclusive online piano teaching courses.

The keyboard includes additional functions for creative expression:

  • Wiri: Adds a pulsating effect to the sound.
  • Tautoko: Prolongs the sound of notes.
  • Whakawhiti: Shifts the pitch of the keyboard up or down.
  • Chord Aunoa: Generates chords automatically based on single-finger input.
  • Reo Takirua: Layers two different instrument voices simultaneously.
  • Ritua Papapātuhi: Divides the keyboard into two sections, each with a different voice.

6. Hononga

The rear panel of the DEK-510 provides various ports for external connections:

  • USB MIDI: Connects to a computer or tablet for MIDI data transfer, allowing use with teaching apps or music editing software.
  • PEDAL: Input for an external sustain pedal (3.5mm jack).
  • AUX PUTA: Audio output for connecting to external speakers or ampkaikawe
  • AUX IN: Audio input for connecting external audio devices (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone).
  • MIC: Input for the included microphone.
  • WAea: Output for headphones, allowing for private practice.
  • DC 9V: Whakauru uruuru hiko.
  • Tauranga USB: For connecting a USB flash drive for MP3 playback.

7. Tuku Hiko

The Donner DEK-510 keyboard offers flexible power options:

  • Mana AC: Use the provided AC power adapter for continuous operation.
  • Mana Pūhiko: For portability, the keyboard can be powered by six (6) D-type 1.5V batteries (not included). This allows for playing in locations without access to a power outlet.

8. Tiaki

  • Kore Mana: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the keyboard and a working power outlet. If using batteries, check if they are correctly inserted and have sufficient charge.
  • Kore Oro: Check the main volume level. Ensure headphones are not plugged in if you intend to use the built-in speakers. Verify that the correct instrument voice is selected.
  • Oro korikori: Lower the volume. Check for loose connections if external speakers are used.
  • Kī Kāore i te Whakautu: Ensure the keyboard is powered on. If specific keys are unresponsive, contact customer support.
