Hardware Installation & Pairing
- Install Batteries in Water Timer: Open the battery compartment on the water timer. Insert 4 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (positive, negative, positive, negative). Close the compartment securely.
- Connect Water Timer to Faucet: Apply Teflon tape to the threads of your outdoor faucet. Screw the water timer onto the faucet, ensuring a secure, leak-free connection. Position the timer so the screen is easily visible.
- Hononga ngongo: Attach your garden hose to the bottom outlet of the water timer.
- Plug in Wi-Fi Weather Station Hub: Plug the Wi-Fi Weather Station Hub into an indoor power outlet near your Wi-Fi router. The hub must remain powered for continuous operation.
- Pair Devices with App:
- In the HomGar App, navigate to 'Add Device'.
- Select the 'Weather Station Hub' option and follow the on-screen instructions to connect it to your 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi network.
- Once the hub is connected, select 'Add Device' again and choose the '1-Zone Water Timer' (or relevant timer model).
- Follow the app's instructions to pair the water timer with the hub.

The smart water timer supports two primary watering modes:
- Aratau Whakawai: Standard watering for a set duration.
- Aratau Kohu: Intermittent watering, ideal for delicate plants or cooling.

You can set up to 6 separate watering programs with customized settings:
- Wā Tīmata: Define the exact time your watering program begins.
- Auautanga: Choose how often the program repeats (e.g., daily, every other day, specific days).
- Roa: Specify the length of each watering session.
- Watering Basis: Water based on time, water usage, or soil moisture (soil sensor sold separately).
Mana Mamao & Aroturuki
The HomGar App provides comprehensive control and real-time monitoring:
- Real-time Watering Status: View current watering activity.
- Water Records: Access daily and monthly water usage data.
- Matohi: Receive push notifications for water cut-offs, pipe leaks, clogs, or valve failures.
- Mana Reo: Integrate with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for voice commands.

To prevent overwatering during rainy periods, you can activate the Rain Delay feature via the app. This will pause scheduled watering for a specified duration (24, 48, or 72 hours).

- Whakakapinga Pūhiko: The water timer requires 4 AA batteries. Replace them as needed to ensure continuous operation. The hub is powered by a wall adapter and does not require batteries.
- Te takurua: During freezing temperatures, it is highly recommended to disconnect the water timer from the faucet and bring it indoors to prevent damage.
- Te horoi: Periodically check and clean the screen filter in the timer's inlet to prevent debris from affecting water flow.

- Inaccurate Sensor Readings: If the outdoor sensor or soil sensor (if purchased separately) provides inaccurate readings, ensure proper placement and check for any obstructions. Note that the outdoor sensor is not fully waterproof and should be deployed away from direct rain and sun.
