Initial Test and Placement

Cutting and Splicing (Optional)

The LED strip can be cut and reconnected to fit specific lengths. Note: DIY cutting and reconnecting may void the warranty if not performed correctly and waterproofed.

  2. Ine ka Tapahia: Measure the desired length. The strip has cutting marks every 3.9 inches (10 cm). Use sharp scissors or a utility knife to cut precisely along these marks.
  3. Prepare for Connection: Peel off approximately one inch of the backing tape from both ends of the cut strip to expose the contact points.
  4. Kōkuhu ki te Tūhono: Insert the prepared ends of the strip into a clear plastic connector (not included, search ASIN B0C993CGMX or B0CQCSR2D9 for compatible connectors). Ensure the light strip is inserted in the correct direction for proper electrical contact.
  5. Hononga Haumaru: Press the light strip firmly into the middle position of the buckle on the connector. Ensure the copper thorns inside the buckle pierce the light strip to establish a secure electrical connection. Repeat for the other side of the connection.
  6. Attach End Cap: If you are ending a section, attach an end cap to the cut end of the light strip. Secure all connections and end caps with silicone glue to ensure waterproofing.
  7. Whakamātautau: Plug in the light strip to test the connection and ensure it illuminates correctly.

Mounting the Light Strip

There are two primary methods for mounting the LED strip:

  1. Tautoko Piripiri: The strip features a self-adhesive white backing tape. Peel off the protective film and firmly press the strip onto the desired clean, dry, and smooth surface.
  2. Mounting Clips and Screws: For a more secure installation, especially on uneven surfaces or for outdoor use, utilize the provided mounting clips and screws. Space the clips evenly along the strip to provide adequate support.
