Pro-Ject Debut EVO 2 Turntable Instruction Manual

Thank you for choosing the Pro-Ject Debut EVO 2 Turntable. This high-fidelity record player is crafted in Europe by hand, offering an enhanced listening experience. It features a heavy platter, a carbon fiber tonearm with a resonance-damping aluminum bearing block, and an adaptive anti-skating system. The turntable comes pre-mounted with a Pick it MM EVO Moving Magnet Phono Cartridge and includes a DC/AC power generator. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, and maintaining your turntable to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

3. Tohutohu Tatūnga

Follow these steps carefully to set up your Pro-Ject Debut EVO 2 Turntable.

3.1 Te Wetewete me te Whakanoho

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Place the turntable on a stable, level surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and vibrations.

3.2 Platter and Drive Belt Installation

  1. Place the main platter onto the central spindle.
  2. Carefully loop the drive belt around the motor pulley and the inner rim of the platter. Ensure the belt is not twisted.

3.3 Te Tatūnga Tonearm me te Kāritere

  1. Slide the counterweight onto the rear of the tonearm with the numbers facing forward.
  2. The Pick it MM EVO cartridge is pre-mounted on the headshell. Attach the headshell to the tonearm and tighten the locking nut securely.
  3. Carefully remove the stylus protector from the cartridge.
  4. Unlock the tonearm from its rest. Lift the cueing lever.
  5. While holding the headshell, lower the cueing lever completely. Do not let the stylus touch the platter.
  6. Turn the counterweight until the tonearm floats parallel to the platter. This is the balanced position.
  7. Once balanced, return the tonearm to its rest and lock it.
  8. Turn only the numbered ring of the counterweight to '0' on the center line. Do not turn the entire counterweight.
  9. Now, turn the entire counterweight (including the numbered ring) counter-clockwise until the desired tracking force is set (e.g., 2 grams for the Pick it MM EVO cartridge).
  10. Locate the anti-skating dial near the tonearm base. Set this dial to the same value as your tracking force (e.g., '2').

3.4 Dust Cover and Connections

  1. Attach the dust cover hinges to the turntable chassis and then carefully place the dust cover onto the hinges.
  2. Connect the turntable's RCA output cables to your amplifier's phono input (or a separate phono preampkaikawe).
  3. Connect the ground wire from the turntable to your ampte pūrua whenua o te lifier.
  4. Plug the 15V DC 0.8A power supply into the turntable and then into a wall outlet.

4. Nga Tohutohu Whakahaere

  2. Select the correct playback speed (33 or 45 RPM) using the speed selector switch.
  3. Unlock the tonearm and lift it using the cueing lever.
  4. Carefully position the stylus over the desired groove on the record.

5.3 Drive Belt Inspection

Periodically inspect the drive belt for any signs of wear or stretching. A worn belt can affect playback speed and consistency.

If you encounter any issues with your turntable, please refer to the following common solutions:

  • Kore Oro: Check all cable connections (RCA, ground, power). Ensure your amplifier is set to the correct input and volume.
  • Oro korikori: Verify that the tracking force and anti-skating settings are correct. Ensure the stylus is clean and undamaged.
  • Tere Hē: Confirm the drive belt is properly seated and not worn. Ensure the correct speed (33/45 RPM) is selected.
  • Haruru Haruru: Check the ground wire connection. Ensure the turntable is placed away from electronic devices that may cause interference.
