1. Preparing Filter Media
The AQQA AQ150 filter utilizes a 3-level filtration system for comprehensive water purification. Arrange the provided filter media within the media baskets as follows:
- Bottom Basket: Place the coarse filter sponge and a portion of the filter stones for mechanical and biological filtration.
- Kete Waenga: Place the medium filter sponge and another portion of the filter stones.
- Top Basket: Place the fine filter sponge and the remaining filter stones.
Ensure the media baskets are stacked correctly inside the canister filter unit.

2. Connecting Hoses and Tubes
- Attach the inlet tube assembly (with strainer) to one end of a PVC hose. Secure it with a hose clamp ki te whakaratohia.
- Attach the outlet tube assembly (with spray bar) to one end of the second PVC hose. Secure it with a hose clamp.
- Connect the other end of the inlet hose to the filter's "IN" port.
- Connect the other end of the outlet hose to the filter's "OUT" port.
- Ensure all hose connections are tight and secure to prevent leaks.
3. Te Whakatinana i te Tari
Place the filter unit on a stable surface below the aquarium. Use the suction cups to secure the inlet and outlet tubes inside the aquarium.

Before plugging in the filter, it must be filled with water. This can typically be done by:
- Opening the inlet valve (if present) and allowing water to siphon from the aquarium into the filter until it is full.
- Alternatively, manually fill the canister with aquarium water before sealing the lid.
Ensure all air is expelled from the filter unit and hoses before proceeding.
5. Hononga Mana
Once the filter is primed and all connections are secure, plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet. The filter should start operating silently.

1. Starting the Filter
After successful setup and priming, the filter will begin circulating and purifying aquarium water once plugged in. Observe the water flow from the outlet tube to confirm proper operation.
2. Adjusting Water Flow
The AQQA AQ150 features an adjustable water flow valve, allowing you to customize the flow rate to suit your aquarium's needs. Locate the flow control lever on the filter head and adjust it to increase or decrease the water flow. This flexibility ensures optimal filtration for various tank sizes and inhabitants.

Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your AQQA AQ150 filter. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.
1. Te Horoi i ngā Pāpāho Tātari
- Auautanga: Clean filter media every 2-4 weeks, or when you notice a significant reduction in water flow.
- Tikanga: Carefully remove the filter head and media baskets. Rinse the filter sponges and filter stones thoroughly with old aquarium water (from a water change) to preserve beneficial bacteria. Do not use tap water directly, as chlorine can harm beneficial bacteria.
- Whakakapinga: Filter sponges should be replaced every 3-6 months, or when they show signs of wear and tear. Filter stones (biological media) generally do not need replacement unless they are physically breaking down.
2. Cleaning Hoses and Impeller
- Nga ngongo: Periodically clean the inlet and outlet hoses using a flexible brush to remove algae and debris that can restrict flow.
- Kaipupuri: The impeller inside the filter head should be inspected and cleaned every few months. Remove the impeller cover and carefully clean the impeller and its housing to ensure smooth, silent operation.
3. Checking Seals
Inspect the rubber seals (O-rings) on the filter head and media baskets during each cleaning. Ensure they are clean, free of debris, and properly seated. Apply a thin layer of silicone grease (aquarium safe) to the O-rings periodically to maintain their flexibility and prevent leaks.
